Good afternoon, As another bit of wintery weather approaches, we are faced with the WHAT DO I DO ALL DAY conundrum. Here are a few ideas of creative activities anyone can enjoy. Ask your parents or guardians for help getting and using supplies. Have some newspaper scraps, scissors, glue and a pen? Cut out some fun and familiar shapes! Glue them onto colored paper, white paper or more newspaper! Doodle with pen around the edges! Don't have scissors? Tear the paper! Don't have a pen? How about a marker, soft pencil, or crayon? Have some newspaper and some tape? Make some sticks by rolling up the newspaper and taping the edge closed. Then, tape the sticks together to make an abstract picture or simple arrangement of shapes. Afterward, paint it, color it with marker or just leave it as is. Sometimes the ads in the newspaper make for great color schemes! Similarly to the previous project, make some sticks by rolling up the newspaper and taping the edge closed. Then, tape those sticks into geometric shapes, like triangles as pictured. You could also do squares or pentagons. Then tape the shapes together to make a crazy sculpture or building! Don't have any tape? Can you think of a clever way to make the sticks stay together without it? What other fun things do you think you could make with newspaper before it gets tossed into the recycle bin? Send me a comment and I can tell you how to send me a picture of your creation!
Have fun arting! -Ms. Mickelson
